What is a Servant Athlete?
Servant: one that serves others
Athlete: a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina
An individual that puts focus on serving others either in a volunteer or professional capacity. Servant Athletes take their responsibility seriously to the extent that they pay closer attention to their lifestyle and wellness, to serve at the highest level possible.
Healthy habits and structure, although daunting to think about, actually serve to elevate your life and create a sense of freedom that few get to experience.
If you can build these simple habits into a daily routine, you will begin to reap the rewards of a long, healthy career and retirement. You will begin to build a buffer between you and the negative health impacts that we’ve all been taught to fear.
And, if you are affected by a negative health issue, these same habits serve as supportive treatments to most chronic illness. All of the habits taught through my coaching serve as prehab and/or rehab to any potential health issue.
Most top athletes spend just as much time and energy focused on prehab/rehab activities as they do on active training. We should treat ourselves the same way!
When we decide to serve people, we often put our personal health and well-being on hold... Not intentionally, but as a side effect of the focus we put on serving others.
As providers and protectors, it’s imperative that we maintain a requisite level of physical and mental health. The needs of a professional servant and the needs of a professional athlete are quite similar. They may vary in degree, but certainly not in kind...
Fitness, Nutrition, Sleep & Stress Management are some of the key components of a successful athlete and servant.
Treat yourself well and you'll enjoy a long life of meaningful service.
